Gumbo's founders bring a unique background, skill set, and perspective to the health care industry. These attributes lead to the ideation, design and development of innovative, competitively priced product solutions.  The founders' backgrounds combine to inject an ergonomic sensibility into a cost-sensitive, technology-driven work environment.

- Ren Tubergen, Ph.D., P.E.

Ren Tubergen, Ph.D., P.E. has applied his engineering education and training into industries as diverse as the office furniture, automotive, aeronautical, and life sciences industries.  His ability to define customer problems and restate them as opportunities has led to the issuance of several patents deriving from his innovative approach to problem-solving. Dr. Tubergen's understanding of the human body through his doctoral dissertation in biomechanics from Purdue University has provided him with a
unique perspective to user-centered design.  His knowledge of the elements of product construction combined with the physiological constraints of the human body create a sensitivity within the design process that results in user-friendly product solutions that also meet the technical and cost-based
needs of their application.

Dr. Tubergen leads the operations and product development efforts of Gumbo medical products, and is a co-founder of the company.
